Pakistan armed forces on high alert along eastern boarder: ISPR

ISLAMABAD – Due to the prevailing environment, Pakistan Army troops are at high alert along Line of Control (LoC) with all required safeguards along eastern border in place to thwart any Indian aggression, the military’s media wing Inter-Services Public Relations said on Thursday.

Contingents of Pakistan Army are on high alert along the LoC and prepared to deal with any Indian aggression, ISPR said. Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Navy are also fully alert, it added.

The military’s media wing said, “During the last 48 hours, Indian troops have resorted to increased ceasefire violations in Kotli, Khuiratta and Tatta Pani Sectors along LoC. Pakistan Army troops have been responding effectively.”

“India is continuously violating the ceasefire agreement,” it added.

Tensions between Pakistan and India have heightened after New Delhi without any proof blamed Pakistan for harbouring terrorists behind the Pulwama attack. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan in response called for dialogue and urged India to provide actionable intelligence.

On Tuesday, Indian military aircraft had violated the LoC as they “intruded” from the Muzaffarabad sector and were forced to return owing to the timely response of the Pakistan Air Force.

Pakistan on Wednesday confirmed it had shot down two Indian aircraft which had crossed over the Line of Control (LoC) and taken one Indian pilot in custody.

Prime Minister Imran Khan in his speech on Wednesday once again invited India for talks, stressing “better sense should prevail.”

Director General Inter Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor also called on the international community to play its role. “Pakistan is sending a message of peace and they [international community] should also come forward and see how the environment between India and Pakistan are a threat to peace and development not only to the two countries but the region and beyond,” DG ISPR said.

German Embassy holds contemporary Saudi art exhibition in Riyadh

RIYADH – (Waqar Wamiq) German Ambassador Jörg Ranau and his wife Heike Ranau hosted the opening reception of a contemporary art exhibition in their residence in the Saudi capital on Monday.

The exhibition showcased the works of seven Saudi artists: the sculptors Talal Al Tokhais, Mohammed Al Thaqafi and Ali Al Tokhais, as well as the painters Najla Al Saleem, Fahad Al Naima, Shuruq Al Safran and Talal Al Zeid.

The joyful and festive event brought together about 80 dignitaries, businesspeople, academics, artists as well as members of the German community and the Saudi civil society to celebrate the rich art scene in Saudi Arabia.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Ranau referred to the rich cultural traditions of Saudi Arabia which have influenced the contemporary artworks displayed at the exhibition. He also commended the artists for their success in reaching out to international artworks many of them have already exhibited in the US, Europe and the Gulf region, some of them even in Germany.

Ambassador Ranau and artist Talal Al Zeid unveiled the work called Buddy Bear. The Bear which is a symbol of Berlin can be found in many places in Berlin and abroad. While their shape is identical, their design is usually made by a local artist, showing the connections between the two countries.

Over the last weeks, Talal Al Zeid worked on the bear which now features a street-art-design inspired by Saudi motives. It is the first Buddy Bear in Saudi Arabia. Following the exhibition, the German Embassy seeks to display the bear at a location accessible to the general public.

Faisal Vawda gets trolled for appearing at the site of Indian jet crash

LAHORE – Faisal Vawda is a Pakistani politician who is the current Federal Minister for Water Resources, in office since 5 October 2018. He has been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan since August 2018.

Faisal just visited the site where an Indian jet was shot down by Pakistani Air Force, to be precise Squadron Leader Hassan Siddique.

What in return happened is that Faisal got badly trolled for his act on the site!

People were as always merciless towards the man who was holding Pakistan’s flag with pride.

He is being called a human meme!

Sajal Aly’s bollywood movie ‘Mom’ all set to be released in China

Another proud moment for Pakistan as Sajal Aly’s blockbuster movie ‘Mom’ is all set to release in China on March 22.

Mom was released in India almost two years ago and stars actors like Sridevi and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The story revolves around the struggle of a mother (Sridevi) who takes the law in her hand to punish her stepdaughter’s rapists.

The movie also featured another talented Pakistani actor, Adnan Siddiqui, who played the role of Sajal’s father and Sridevi’s husband in the flick.

Sajal Aly has received laudatory reviews by critics and public alike in both Pakistan and India for essaying the character of Sridevi’s estranged stepdaughter; now it’s time to see how the film performs in China.

The news was first revealed by an Indian film critic Taran Adarsh via his social media accounts.

This won’t be the first time that the movie will be screened at an international level. Mom has already been aired in several countries before such as like UAE, UK, Poland, Czech Republic, Russia, USA and Singapore.

These reads will make war cheering people realise what hell it brings with it

LAHORE – Indian pilot thanked the Pakistan Army captain and soldiers for saving his life from an angry mob who gathered at the crash site when the LOC was violated by him earlier. He said, “I am very impressed by the Pakistani Army and I would like to say Pakistani soldiers must be treated in the same way [with respect and dignity].”

Pakistan has dealt with the whole fiasco pretty well but some social media warriors think war is the ultimately BEST option, uh.

Here are a few reads that will take you into the actual world of war and teach good enough lessons.

Pakistan likely to hike petroleum prices by 10% tonight

ISLAMABAD – The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has proposed a 10 percent hike in prices of diesel and petrol in line with fluctuation of oil prices in the international market.

Based on revised tax rates and import parity price of Pakistan State Oil (PSO), Ogra has worked out about Rs9.44 per litre increase in the price of high-speed diesel (HSD), Rs4.71 in petrol, Rs8.06 in kerosene and Rs5.12 in the price of light diesel oil (LDO).

The regulator has also requested the prices of kerosene oil to be raised by Rs8.06 per litre and light diesel oil (LDO) by Rs5.12 per litre for next month, a letter for March 2019 read.

The OGRA summary was forwarded to the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), which recommended revision in oil prices.

If accepted, the diesel prices would inflate from existing Rs106.68 to Rs116.12 per litre, petrol from current Rs90.38 to 95.09 per litre, LDO from Rs75.03 to Rs80.15 per litre and kerosene from Rs82.31 to Rs90.37 per litre.

The government is set take the final decision on Ogra’s recommendation today (Thursday).

Over the last two months, the government has started increase petroleum levy rates because it remains in the federal kitty unlike GST that goes to the divisible pool taxes and thus about 57pc share is grabbed by the provinces.

Last month, the government had increased general sales tax rate on all petroleum products to 17pc across the board to generate an additional revenue of about Rs11bn per month. Until Dec 31, 2018, the government was charging 0.5pc GST on LDO, 2pc on kerosene, 8pc on petrol and 13pc on HSD.

Emilia Clarke says that the final season of GOT will shock people

Game of Thrones actor Emilia Clarke, known for playing the iconic role of Khaleesi, said the eighth and final season will “shock people”.

The eighth chapter of the HBO fantasy series comes almost two years after the last instalment aired on July 16, 2017. The plot details are being kept under wraps.

“It going to be huge, that much everyone needs to know,” she said

She added, “It took us a long time to film this one for a very good reason. But I think there’s going to be some things… I know there’s going to be some things in this last season that will shock people,” Clarke told E! on the Oscars 2019 red carpet.

Clarke, who portrays Daenerys Targaryen, is making an attempt for the famous Iron Throne since the show premiered in April 2011. The final season finds her finally advancing to reclaim the throne for her family alongside Jon Snow, essayed by Kit Harington.

Clarke said she didn’t steal anything from the set before wrapping production. “I’m such a goody two shoes. People were watching me. I tried to throw some things under the wig, throw them in my bag, nothing,” she said.

Game of Thrones returns for a final season on April 14.
