Nigeria delays presidential polls for one week after discovering dozens of bodies

ABUJA – Dozens of bodies, including 22 children and 12 women, were found in eight villages of Kaduna state in north-west Nigeria, the Radio Pakistan reported.

The victims were found in eight villages in the Kujuru area of Kaduna state, the state government said.

State governor Nasir El-Rufai said the discovery of the bodies of 66 people, 22 of them children and 12 women, killed by criminal elements, adding that security forces have made several arrests.

Four injured people were rescued by security forces and were receiving medical attention.

The discovery was reported just one day before the country’s presidential and parliamentary elections day, which was later postponed by a week due to logistic issues.

A state government statement said that the killings are being investigated and indicted persons will be prosecuted.
