The much-debated Child Marriage Restraint Bill was passed by Senate yesterday, criminalizing marriage of underage children. The bill was presented by Senator Sherry Rehman and sets the legal age of 18 for children to be married.
The bill was approved by the Senate despite the opposition from PTI, JUI, and JI on final voting as per Ms Rehamns account:
