A report submitted to the Supreme Court has warned that the number of cases in Pakistan could soar to 50,000 come April 25.
The report, prepared by the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination, said that the number of critical patients could rise to 2,500 and serious cases to 7,000. It outlined the country’s national action plan to combat COVID-19.
It said Pakistan’s testing facilities will be increased by April 25. The report added that quarantine centres are being built across the country and so far have been set up in 154 districts.
All airports have special coronavirus counters and an emergency has been declared at the border with Iran in Balochistan’s Taftan.
The report also said that Pakistan has prepared a financing requirement of $366 million from the World Bank and Asian Development Bank.
