Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra was left unimpressed with Babar Azam’s innings in the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) season seven opener between Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans.
The Kings’ captain, Azam, scored 23 runs in 29 balls and was far from his best while batting.
The renowned commentator, Chopra, believed that “Babar’s shadow arrived in Karachi today”.
Babar’s shadow arrived in Karachi today…never got going. No rhythm. Sharjeel’s cameo allowed him to settle in…but still it wasn’t enough in the end. #PSL7

Kings lost the match by seven wickets after failing to defend a modest target of 125 runs.
Sultans’ captain Mohammad Rizwan led from the front with an unbeaten fifty to take his side over the line. He scored 52 runs in 47 balls.
“We didn’t utilise middle-overs well and were short on runs which is why we lost. We were lacking experience with our main bowlers [Imad and Amir] not available. I feel happy with the way Rizwan is performing,” said Babar in the post-match presentation ceremony.
Karachi’s next match is against Quetta Gladiators on January 29, meanwhile Sultans will face Lahore Qalandars on the same day.
